Without a doubt, northern Utah is the hotspot for both outdoors and indoor fun. The list of activities rivals that of any western vacation area and the quality far exceeds expectations. If you’re after a destination that will give you everything you could possibly want in one very comfortable place and price, northern Utah is for you.

Points of Interest

Just a 40-minute drive northeast of Salt Lake City and just east of the city of Ogden, lies Ogden Canyon. This canyon is home to geological attractions, narrow limestone and shale walls streaked with color, spectacular glacial peaks, scenic canyons, numerous recreational activities, and a nationally designated scenic byway. Ogden Canyon is also home to the spectacular Wasatch Mountains and two resorts—Powder Mountain and Snowbasin summer resorts. It’s history is rich and you’ll enjoy the many activities the area offers. From water-skiing, fishing, and windsurfing to backpacking, sightseeing, and camping, this area has something for everyone.

Things to Do

Powder Mountain, nestled high in the spectacular Wasatch Mountains, is a prime summer destination. Mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking, and hiking are available throughout its slopes. Various amenities including lodges, specialty restaurants, and shops are located throughout the area.

Visit Antelope Island State Park located in the Great Salt Lake. As the largest island in the Great Salt Lake, Antelope Island is home to antelope, elk, and bison. This is also a wonderful recreational area with numerous activities including hiking, biking, boating, camping, and sunbathing amid white sand beaches, and bath houses with covered picnic pavilions.

Located on the Weber River, Ogden’s Kayak Rodeo Park is a challenge for kayakers and river rafters. Rocks were placed in the river to create scenic waterfalls with deep pools for trout. Sandy beaches and clear blue water make Pineview Reservoir perfect for boating, fishing, windsurfing, water skiing, and camping. Excellent fishing is available year-round. Small and largemouth bass, bluegill, tiger muskie, black bullhead catfish, crappie, and yellow perch are caught here. Ice fishing is a favorite in the winter months when the reservoir freezes over.
