Choosing a Condo Versus a Hotel for Your Summer Mountain Travel

When planning your Summer vacation to a mountain resort there’s one question most people find themselves asking; should I stay at a hotel or a condo? Finding lodging at a mountain resort is a bit different from finding lodging at a resort on the beach. There’s several options for you to choose from, each with their own list of amenities and reasons you should choose them for your stay. Here are few things to consider when choosing between the two.

Choosing a Condo Versus a Hotel for Your Summer Mountain Travel

Seclusion & Privacy
If you value privacy and peace and quiet, then this is certainly an important benefit to choosing a condo for your vacation. In a condo, you’re not isolated or stuck in the middle of nowhere all alone, but you do have privacy that a hotel simply can’t offer. In a hotel, your room is directly beside two others, and there are several more located on your floor. You’ll undoubtedly see people walking down the hall as you enter and exit your room, and while you’re trying to read or watch a movie you might hear unwanted noise from the hall or the hotel room next to yours. The walls aren’t insulated enough to block out all loud talking and blaring TVs from your fellow travelers. This annoyance can make your vacation experience less than ideal. In a condo, you’re in a private space that’s all your own. Surrounding yourself with the sounds of nature, especially on an outdoor mountain vacation, will provide a more relaxing trip.

More Space
Most hotel rooms aren’t that spacious, and if they are, they’re accompanied with a pretty hefty price tag. When renting a condo, you have more room to roam. Your bedroom is separate from your living room, you have a full-size kitchen, and your bathroom normally isn’t a tiny closet-like space. If you like to move around, stretch your legs, and feel at home, then a condo is a better choice than a cramped hotel room.

Dining
In your hotel room, you’ll find a coffee pot and perhaps a mini-fridge. That’s it. When dinner time rolls around, you’ll be forced to leave your room or order expensive room service (if that’s available). If you want something other than the on-site dining (again, only if available), you’ll have to hop in a cab or walk a while to get the food you crave. In your condo, you still have the option of dining out if you want, but if you choose to have dinner in, you have a full kitchen at your fingertips. This gives you the freedom to cook and eat in your pajamas if you want and to sit in the living room, with the windows open, looking out at the beautiful views as you enjoy your dinner. Plus, your kitchen never closes. If you wake up in the middle of the night and want a snack, you can make yourself whatever you want. If you wake up hungry in the middle of the night in a hotel room, you’ll have to settle for a $10 mini soda and bag of peanuts from your room’s mini-fridge.

Slopeside
Location, location, location. You know how important it is to be close to the activities and events you’re interested in. Being in a central location saves you time, effort, and money. At a mountain resort, condos will be closer to the action than a hotel. Hotels are usually located at least a few miles away, while condos can be found slopeside. Staying on the mountain provides both convenience and the luxury of stunning views right outside your window.

Amenities
In a hotel, the amenities often include a TV, a hair dryer in the bathroom, shampoos, and the ability to order movies on demand. Those aren’t really necessities, and they’re certainly not a reason to shell out large amounts of money for a small hotel room. Along with full-size kitchens, beautiful views, convenient location, and lots of space, a condo often comes with added amenities, that are pretty luxurious, such as private hot tubs for you and your guests to enjoy. Why soak in a tiny tub at the hotel, listening to people talk in the hallway outside your door when you can sit outside, on your private deck, and soak in a real tub, complete with bubbles and the sound of nature?

If you want to save some money cooking meals in your kitchen instead of dining out every night and raiding the mini-fridge, if you want seclusion and privacy with lots of space, and if you want to enjoy the beauty of nature from a rolling hot tub, then consider a condo for your upcoming summer vacation.
