When you first arrive in Sandpoint, it’s a great idea to start off your trip by seeing all of the historical sites in town and visiting the local museums. This area has seen some notable people throughout the years, such as Theodore Roosevelt, and the earliest residents date back thousands of years. This is a great way to learn all about what Sandpoint has to offer and have a lot of fun while you’re at it.

Outdoor Activities

Next up, it’s time to head outdoors. You can start on a hiking tour that will take you into the wilderness for a safe but fun afternoon. Bring a lunch and relax before heading back home or take it up a notch and go mountain biking on the same trail instead. Walk in the footsteps of the earliest residents as you see the country the way they did, from horseback. Next up, it’s time to hit the water. The area is home to many different lakes and rivers and you’ll have plenty of chances to try a little bit of everything.

Lake Pend Oreille

From a peaceful drift in a canoe to a thrilling white water ride, you’ll be able to find the perfect day trip. Try boating on Lake Pend Oreille and see if you can catch any fish while you’re at it. Lake Pend Oreille is home to numerous different species of fish and you’ll be able to catch a trophy sized one with a little luck.

Golfing

Sandpoint is also home to some great golf courses that offer just the right amount of challenging play. If you’ve never played golf out west, this is a rare experience that is worth the entire trip. After your round, you can kick back in the clubhouse and relax.

There are plenty of different resorts in Sandpoint, such as the Schweitzer Mountain Resort, that offer spa-like accommodations, complete with massages to soothe your muscles after an exciting day outdoors. You can go shopping at one of the many boutiques or take in a show at a local theater.
