Adirondacks - Lake Placid Region
There are not many areas left in this world where one can experience nature so profoundly unspoiled. Encompassing a huge body of land within Northern New York is the immense Adirondack State Park. This park is a paradise of sparkling rivers, glimmering lakes, and majestic old mountains, making the region a popular vacation destination for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors.
Upstate, as They Like to Say
Adirondack is the largest State Park in the U.S. and is bigger than Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks combined. There are many beautiful areas that make up the park including Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Schroon Lake to name just a few. The village of Lake Placid is considered the resort center of Essex County, offering unlimited summer recreational opportunities. Set in the mountains and lake country, this famous quaint village was the site of two Olympic Winter Games, one in 1932 and the other in 1980. The Olympic facilities, numerous festivals and attractions make this area fabulous for family vacations!
Things to Do
Saranac Lake is in the heart of the Adirondacks and at the hub of activity. Lush forests, pristine lakes and lofty mountains surround the village of more than 5,000 people.
