More to Offer Than Just Gambling

Reno is a popular hot spot for family vacations all year long, offering a variety of different vacation hotspots both on a year round basis, and throughout specific seasons. It is known not only for providing a host of zoos, national parks, theme parks, amusement parks, and museums, but this interesting city also provides a number of exciting physical and mental activities that can make your vacation even more enjoyable.

Things to Do

Some noteworthy attractions include the Sierra Safari Zoo, the largest of all zoos in Nevada with more than 150 animals and 40 different species, and a number of glorious national parks including the Great Basin National Park and the Lake Mead National Recreational Area. The Great Basin National Park has numerous limestone caverns that can be traveled through, and a number of hiking and biking trails that can be easily moderated in order to travel to beautiful alpine lakes and a stunning pine forest. The Lake Mead National Recreation Area has huge lakes that are excellent for boating, swimming and sunbathing. This lake is also an excellent location for hikers, wildlife photographers, sight seers, fishing, bird watching and a large number of other activities.

In the summer time specifically, there are a number of family vacation hot spots that are more notable than the rest. The Hoover Dam, for example, is an excellent place to bring a family. Another popular hot spot, which is actually just outside of the city, is the Las Vegas Stratosphere Tower, a 1,149-foot-tall tower that is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the entire United States, as well as the tallest building west of the Mississippi.

Other popular tourist destinations includes Game Works, a 47,000-square-foot entertainment destination with more than 250 games located in the Showcase Mall, the Race for Atlantis at the Forum Shops at Caesars, which is an Imax 3D motion simulator ride, the Sahara Speed world at the Sahara, the Theaters of Sensation at the Venetian, and many other entertainment based destinations that are excellent for families.

If you are looking for outdoor activity, try North Lake Tahoe just west of Carson City in Nevada, which provides hot air ballooning, fishing, boat tours, parasailing, beach walking, camping, sailing, and a variety of other excellent activities that will get your blood pumping and your body moving. Just below the Hoover Dam you will find Black Canyon, with hot springs and scenic walls. Lake Mead is also located close by, and here you will find fishing, camping, hiking, nature walks and hikes, bicycling, boating and plenty of restaurants to enjoy.
