If you've never been to Salt Lake City before, you're in for a real treat. Nestled amidst the mountains in North-central Utah, alongside the Wasatch Range, this state capital and Mormon religious center offers a multitude of outdoor recreational activities, things to do, as well as places to see.

Outdoors activities abound. Rock climbing, rock hounding, bicycling, mountain climbing, horseback riding, hiking, boating, camping, golf, fishing, hunting, off-road explorations and a variety of extreme sports, these and more are all readily available all summer long in SLC. (Winter months are no less exciting, but one trades in boots and bikes for skis.)

Utah is a fisherman's paradise. Both Lake and Cutthroat, Brook, Rainbow and Brown trout abound, as well as a variety of other big fish in the lakes as well as the rivers and streams across the state. Some of the lakes add largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, walleye and a few perch to the list. No one is ever going be less than raving about a Utah fishing trip! Fly fishing opportunities are excellent, and the country is a pleasure to be in, whether they're biting at that moment or not!

Rock hounds will enjoy the many unusual formations found in Utah. There's also a dinosaur graveyard. Who knows? You might get lucky and discover an entirely new species! The wonders of Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park will also be worth the drive, especially for the geologically inclined.

If you're Extreme Sports inclined, the first stop should be Lagoon Amusement Park. (You can always hang inverted off a cliff edge, but how many chances do you get to experience free fall without having to worry about the sudden stop?) THEN you can go crazy on the long list of activities, including skydiving (of course,) parasailing, hang gliding, ballooning, mountaineering, BMX racing, Whitewater Rafting, Kayaking, mountain biking, spelunking (exploring caves.) There are also huge places for off-road and motocross fun! Just about everything you can imagine doing can be done there in the Salt Lake area! Climbing the mountains and dropping into the canyons is just the beginning of an awesome time!

In case you somehow missed it, Salt Lake City was host to the 2002 winter Olympics. Nothing will spruce up a city quite like having the world come as your houseguests! SLC was already quite impressive before, but now there's just SO much more of everything! Nightlife, clubs, professional and amateur theatre, music, and all kinds of quality, professional entertainment await all day long as well as when the sun goes down. Blues, Rock, Punk and Emo bands fill those stages, while the venerable Mormon Tabernacle Choir gives others a musical thrill of another kind. The Clark Planetarium is just one of the many attractions within the Gateway District, for just one example... and don't forget the Sundance Film Festival!

Though Salt Lake City may be the headquarters of the Mormon Church, it should be
