The Vail Valley has many activities to enjoy in the summer. Play golf on one of eleven courses. Stroll boutique-lined streets or take in an outdoor concert. For spectacular views of soaring mountains surrounding beautiful valleys, try a hot air balloon ride. Vail Mountain has summer activities for the whole family. The Discovery Center at the top of Eagle's Nest on Vail Mountain was created by a joint partnership between Vail Resorts, US Forest Service and the Gore Range Natural Science School. The Discovery Center enables guests to learn about animals, their tracks, flora and fauna, weather patterns and snowfall, view topographical maps and gain an understanding of life in the Colorado Rockies. At Adventure Ridge, everyone can enjoy a round of disc golf or hunt for buried bones at Dino Dig. For the more adventuresome, try a half-day mountain bike workshop. Ride the Eagle Bahn Gondola and experience unbelievable views of the Sawatch, New York and Gore Ranges and the famous Mount of the Holy Cross. Hiking, mini golf, lawn sports and indoor laser tag are among the other activities available during the summer.

The Eagle County Regional Airport is located only 30 miles West of Vail and 20 miles from Beaver Creek. During the summer, daily non-stop flights take visitors directly into Vail. A nice option is to fly in and spend your day golfing, fishing and relaxing Instead of driving over mountain passes.
