Fairfield County

Fairfield County juts into New York like a spear, and is filled with summer family fun and activities.

Things to Do

One of the major attractions in this area is the Palace Theatre, which was designed by the famous architect, Thomas Lamb. Enjoy a concert by your favorite museum, or catch a high-energy play or performance. Head to Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, and check out the rare endangered Brazilian ocelots. The zoo is open year round, and it is located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. If the outdoors is steaming, head inside at the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk. Walk around marine habitats as otters, sharks and sea turtles dive and zoom in the waters all around you.

Stroll through the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, which offers outdoor activities that the kids will love. The nature center sits on more than 100-wooded acres, and it has hiking trails and an actual working farm.

If you are in for just the odd and amazing, check out the Philip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan. This museum features the Glass House, which is literally made of quarter-inch glass. If architecture isn’t your thing, then consider heading to the eBruce Museum in Greenwich. Come to the museum often to catch one of the changing exhibitions, or drop by to view the permanent collection of minerals. View the macabre and magical at the Barnum Museum in Bridgeport. This museum showcases the life and works of P.T. Barnum of the Barnum and Bailey Circus.
