Steamboat Springs

Known for its famous Western charm, Steamboat Springs is nestled in the fertile Yampa Valley surrounded by mountains of the Routt National Forest. Steamboat offers its guests a resort town with all the modern amenities, including dining, shopping, and a wide variety of lodging, while maintaining its small-town feel.

A Western Town with the Resort Feel

While its roots are deeply embedded in western traditions of ranching and farming, Steamboat Springs is a very cultured town with its “Strings in the Mountains” music festival, live theater, several art galleries, and even a winery. With nearly 70 restaurants and bars, guests will find a variety of venues to relax and enjoy. Lodging options range from hotels and condominiums to private residences and bed and breakfasts.

Things to Do

Many summertime activities are offered for the whole family in Steamboat Springs. With well-stocked lakes and countless miles of streams, the area has become a fisherman’s paradise. Outdoor enthusiasts also like to kayak and whitewater raft, or just inner tube down the Yampa and Elk Rivers. Hike the Mount Zirkel Wilderness or Fish Creek Falls for beautiful scenery with waterfalls and wildflowers. Mountain bikers have many great places to ride on off-road trails and service roads. Gondola rides are also available for hikers and bikers on the mountain.

Once being only a ski destination, the area has now become known as a golfer’s haven. Steamboat Springs offers four spectacular golf courses, from a relaxing nine to acclaimed championship courses. Besides golf, the Old West comes alive every year as the Pro Rodeo Series erupts with the excitement of bull riding and roping.

For some relaxation, take a soak in the hot mineral pools located in town. You can also venture 10 miles up some back roads to an amazing spot called Strawberry Park Hot Springs. Please note, at night time, clothing is optional. But you won’t believe how many stars you’ll see as you relax in the hot water.  A variety of festivals and concerts make Steamboat a popular spot in the summertime. The annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo, Arts in the Park, and Steamboat Marathon are just only a couple of the many events happening throughout the summer.
